Employers and WorkAbility

WorkAbility collaborates with businesses, agencies and individuals in order to form a more perfect community. This synergistic approach provides high school students the ability to cultivate responsibility, build a strong work ethic, and gain confidence.

Employers and the Transition Program

This program focuses on life skills and obtaining/retaining employment. Employers are supported by job coaches and the students are covered under the SCUSD Workers Compensation and Liability Insurance. Hirable students are provided a subsidized training wage and employers receive a motivated, eager worker.

Employers and the Summer Work Experience Program

This program runs from July 2nd through July 30th. Employers receive work experience student(s) as employees. The students are paid minimum wage by the School District and are covered under the SCUSD Workers Compensation and Liability Insurance. Work sites are supported by a job coach to ensure a smooth running program.

Students have a wide range of abilities. Employers are asked to fill out the Employer Request Form to participate. For the best match, employers should meet with the Job Developer and discuss the duties of their employees. Click the "more info" button to learn more.

Employers and Work Experience Education (September-June)
Employers Learning More About Workability

Program runs the entire school year (Employers may opt out at any time). Split into two semesters, students are placed at worksites and compensated with school credit. Students are covered under the SCUSD Workers Compensation and Liability Insurance. This is a great way for employers to train prospective employees without affecting their bottom line.​

 

Students have a wide range of abilities. Employers are supported by the Job Developer. The Job Developer matches a student’s abilities to the employer's needs and resolves any issues that may arise.
